Community Engagement Manager - Job Summary
Lead outreach and training initiatives to engage researchers and users of Velsera platforms, promoting platform benefits and ensuring user success while providing feedback to improve the platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Create content including written and video tutorials to help researchers use Velsera platforms.
- Plan and lead training sessions and workshops for user groups ranging from 5 to 100 users.
- Present the value of Velsera platforms at conferences, workshops, and consortia meetings.
- Strategically reach out to research communities to grow platform usage.
- Engage with users to understand their research and assist with successful platform use.
- Incorporate user feedback into the Velsera product roadmap.
- Work independently and take ownership of delivering milestones.
- Participate in internal outreach and engagement efforts providing feedback and reporting progress.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences including users, researchers, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
- Experience conducting genomics experiments or analyzing omics data (e.g., RNA-seq, Exome-seq, ChIP-seq, proteomics, imaging analysis).
- Enthusiasm for teaching and making technical concepts accessible.
- Basic UNIX command line experience (nice to have).
- Ability to program in R and/or Python (nice to have).
- Experience with large-scale -omics data processing on cloud or high-performance computing (nice to have).
- Experience running workshops, user groups, or large user-engagement events preferred.
Education
PhD or MS in genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, engineering, or related discipline required
