Community Manager - Job Summary
The Community Manager will grow and support a global membership community advancing participatory democracy, coordinating activities, fostering engagement, and managing governance and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver member workshops, events, and virtual activities to strengthen community knowledge and relationships.
- Provide ongoing support to members aligned with their needs and priorities.
- Gather member feedback to improve community experience and impact.
- Maintain and improve member records and documentation.
- Coordinate community growth strategy and align member activities with organizational programs.
- Recruit and attract new members to diversify the community.
- Manage member application and onboarding processes.
- Plan and manage collective governance and decision-making systems.
- Coordinate member communication channels including WhatsApp and email.
- Create content for digital channels to promote member activities and resources.
- Participate in organizational meetings, retreats, and contribute to plans and proposals.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience managing international membership communities, networks or alliances.
- Proven ability to engage and grow a network of diverse organizations and individuals.
- Strong community organizing and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships across global regions with cultural sensitivity.
- Passion for participatory democracy, community empowerment, and equity with alignment to the organization's mission.
- Excellent English writing and communication skills, capable of translating complex information clearly.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across diverse cultures.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities including familiarity with tools like Asana, Airtable, and Google Workspace.
- Flexible and growth-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in additional languages like French, Spanish, or Portuguese is a plus.
- Experience working remotely across multiple time zones is desirable.
- Experience in participatory democracy or civic engagement fields is a plus.
